What are cookies?

“Cookies” are small text files containing unique ID numbers that are placed on your internet enabled device (such as your computer or mobile device) by websites that you visit. They are used in order for websites to work, or work more efficiently, as well as to provide information to website providers. For example, they allow a website provider to  remember your login details and website preferences (so that you don’t have to reconfigure your settings each time you log-in to your account), and to better understand how you use its website. Similar technologies such as web beacons, pixel tags and GIFs, essentially also do the same thing. For the purposes of this Cookies Policy, we will use the term “cookies” to include these similar technologies.

This Cookies Policy will explain how HealthBeats use cookies to help us ensure that our Online Sites and Services function safely and effectively, and in accordance with our Privacy Policy. Any capitalised term used and not otherwise defined here will have the meaning assigned to it in our Privacy Policy.

How we use cookies

We use cookies to ensure that our Online Sites and Services work safely and effectively, more intuitively and where possible, personalised to you. Specifically, they allow the following:

a. Operation of our services. These cookies are essential and necessary to perform the core functionality of our Online Sites and Services. In particular:

  • Authentication. We use cookies to authenticate and validate your login, prevent unauthorised or fraudulent use of login credentials, and remember your login state so that you don’t have to login as you navigate between pages throughout Online Sites and Services.
  • Preferences. We use cookies to remember the settings that you have previously configured or personalised (such as your preferred language, the region you are in, your country code, and user login ID) so that you don’t have to reconfigure your settings each time you log-in to your account.
  • Fraud Prevention and Detection. Cookies that we deploy through our Online Sites and Services help us learn things about computers and web browsers you use to access our Online Services. This information helps us monitor for and detect potentially harmful or illegal use of our Services.

b. Analysis and enhancement of services. We use Google Analytics, which uses cookies and similar technologies, to collect information about how visitors use our Online Sites and Services. We use the information to compile and analyse reports, and to help us improve and make our Online Sites and Services more intuitive, and work better for you. The cookies collect information in an anonymous form or in such a way that does not directly identify you or anyone, for example, information relating to the number of visitors to our Online Sites and Services, where or which website did our visitors come from, which area of the Online Sites and Services have they visited. You can learn more about Google’s practices on Google website, and the cookies used in Google Analytics here. For more information on Google’s overview of privacy and safeguarding data, please see here.

c. Better marketing and advertising. Cookies can also help us provide more effective advertising on our Online Sites and Services. They allow us to measure how many times an advertisement is viewed or clicked on, and better customise personalised news/updates, offers and advertisements to you so that the marketing messages you receive on our Online Sites and Services are relevant to you and your interests. They also allow us to retain your shopping history and use details of the products you have previously purchased to make suggestions to you for other products which we believe you will also be interested in. They also help prevent you from seeing the same advertisement multiple times.

How to manage cookies

You can manage and control the use of cookies through your browser settings, including restricting, deleting or blocking cookies. Please note that if you choose to disable or reject these cookies, some features of the Online Sites and Services will be affected or may not operate/function properly as intended.

To opt out of being tracked by Google Analytics across all websites, visit http://tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout.

Changes to our Cookies Policy

We may change this Cookies Policy from time to time to reflect current practices on how we use and place cookies, so please review it frequently. Any updated version of this Cookies Policy will be posted on our webpage and will be effective from the date of posting.
